Hi there
I posted a thread a few months ago about my Canon EOS 350D where some of my shots were blurring and my shutter sounded as if it were sticking.
Turns out it was the flashboard that needed replaced and cost me £ 130 to repair.

I have used it a few times since and although the shutter doesn`t seem to stick anymore some blurring is occuring. I have lost confidence in the camera now and am thinking of upgrading to a Canon EOS 5D.

Im taking photos at my brother`s wedding in August and want to get it right. Haven`t got a huge amount of spare time to research but keen to stick with Canon.

Any comments would be appreciated?

why not post some examples so we can tear them to shreds,
sorry
help you understand?

I can understand how you feel about the 350D now - it's hard to trust something when it's let you down previously isn't it.

Why are you looking at a 5D specifically rather than - say - a 40D? Also, you need to think hard about what lenses you have as the full frame sensor on the 5D doesn't let you get away with any but the best glass.

agreed, post a few shots so we can have a closer look at the problem...
That said if you make a move to 5D there's a cashback on right now. 5d is an excellent camera by all counts and certainly has the iq where it counts...

Have 2 lenses, the EF18-55mm and EF 50mm 1:1.4. I use a Speedlite 420EX flash and the camera is approx 4-5 years old.

Would like to change now and want to spend bit extra and get something that is going to last me a good few years. Found a deal on 7dayshop.com including a lens.

It sounds like you have lost confidence in the camera body and only a replacement will restore the situation.

Only my 2p worth but Kerso beats 7dayshop on price and he's in your neck of the woods so I would consider a PM to him.

Your 18-55 wouldn't fit a 5D, but then if it's the kit lens you wouldn't want to use it on that camera anyway.
If you do decide to upgrade either to a 5D or a 40D I would strongly suggest you get a decent lens for either camera. The 24-105 for the 5D is a good choice and comes as part of the kit. Maybe the 17-85 for the 40D although I think this camera could support something better

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. Wanted to get a better lens with the upgrade. Will review both 40D and 5D.

Cheers

I got a 40d from Kerso in jan its a great piece of kit and you can pick it up from Buckhaven and get it cheaper that way
