Upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista?

I bought my laptop running Vista in 2009, and as Windows 7 was imminent, I opted for the Home Edition as I would be entitled to a free upgrade to 7 when it became available. When I applied, it was indeed free, but Microsoft wanted £14.00 P&P, which I thought was ridiculous and didn't bother because as I was using XP on my desktop, Vista was an upgrade for me anyway. Now however, I wish I had upgraded as I get a message when I go on to Google chrome saying support for Vista is being withdrawn, so my question is, is there a reasonably inexpensive way of upgrading to 7? I asked the question on webbuser and the only answer I received was to buy another laptop with 7 already installed, which wasn't very helpful I'm afraid, any body on here have any suggestions please? I want to do it legitimately of course. ( I ran a check and my machine is capable of making the upgrade)

I recently bought a disc from Amazon for about £27 and upgraded my laptop from Vista to Windows 7, which lead to a free upgrade to Windows 10, without any hiccups.
A few days after the 7 upgrade you are prompted to phone a toll free number to be given a code to enter to ensure that the disc was legitimate.
 
Why spend anything much on a seven year old laptop.
You could get one new with W10 which will run rings round it from about £300.
Can it even play 1080p video let alone 4K (for example)
 
Thanks Graeme and 4wd, £27 sounds a lot better than £300 for the use I get from a computer, ( looking on here, Hotmail and general surfing)
 
Thanks Paul, that sounds more like it, I am though a little confused as to why some prices, ie. the £18.99 seems to be for the licence only, whereas the £29.99 is licence and DVD, so I am unsure what the difference is, do I not need the DVD? Allan I'm afraid I don't qualify for 10

The lower cost is for the digital download only and activation key the more expensive one they post you a DVD install disc...........Im happy to have the lower of the 2.

You get 32 and 64 bit ISO images you can burn to disc yourself OR they also give instructions on how to install from a USB stick ...quiet simple my youngest did his on his own
