I tried it in the beta and it worked.
the plugin ( I am assuming this one) has been updated to work with LR4 including the translating of shadow to native GPS data. See his blog for info.one thing I have noticed when importing the catalog from lr3 to 4, the GPS support for LR3 was via plugin , but the metadata used in LR3 is marked as "GPS shadow" or "shadow GPS" can't remember which, but anyway the data isn't imported with the catalog, so all my tediously marked GPS photos are now no longer marked.
Also as I cant afford the silly price for a nikon GPS unit [spent it on LR4], I was using a tracker app on my phone to record where I was. The LR3 plugin then looked at timestamps and marked your pictures with the gps coords: Now has anyone tried to do the same with LR4? , ie record a track, export the data and correllate the data in LR4.
I only tried importing last night, no time to create new pictures and data until weekend.

I was struggling with multiple layers really slowing down my 4gb(3gb) xp machine. I only had to get upto 5 or 6 and it really slowed with Lightroom open as well ( I generally use Lightroom them click edit in photoshop).
I would have thought that RAW support would be decided by the version of camera raw that you are running rather than the version of Lightroom.

Is it worth it.

I have Win 7 on my desktop which is the master for all my images, but I also have a Win XP laptop which I use when travelling with a second copy of LR so I can review the images I have taken, etc.
Unfortunately as soon as you register a LR4 upgrade, the LR3 licence becomes deactivated, so to get a dual LR3/4 setup I would need to buy a full copy of LR4.
She did say she would send my 'feedback' on this to her supervisor to make them aware of the issue (and the lost sale, as I doubt I'll upgrade LR until I upgrade the laptop, which is unlikely as I also use it for work, and have software which will only run on native XP).

The map alone was worth it for me personally. It feels a lot quicker for me too, less lag when switching between modules.
This may have just answered my question but I'll ask it anyway. If I upgrade to LR4 does my copy of LR3 become obsolete? The reason I ask is that I was toying with the idea of upgrading and then giving my old (3months) copy of LR3 to my dad. Will this work? I thought you could install on 2 pc's as long as they are not used simultaneously.
A quick addition on the Lightroom topic. I've noticed on all forums a number of complaints that LR4 won't run on XP whether 32bit or 64bit. Adobe have quite bluntly said that they have no intention of investing time and money on an operating system that is obsolete and no longer supported. I'm always amazed that so many people still run XP and whilst a very few may need to for hardware compatability, the majority are just being obstinate I think! Sorry.

I use XP for work - I develop control software for specialised machines that have been in production over 10 years - a few of the development tools will only run on native XP, so until we can develop a set that run on Win 7 we are stuck (and the customer prefers us to spend our time adding new features so they can make more sales, rather than making life easier for ourselves).
