Yes
Thinking of upgrading to the 5dmk3, mostly for the improved autofocus
It's a good bargain at moment with some retailers giving free battery grip with it.
That offer finishes tomorrow ,so need to make a decision soon
Almost went to buy it today but still don't know wha to do
If I get it I will have to sell the 5d2 to help fund it
Help
Is the 5d3 worth the cost

Do it... I had my 5DMKII for three years and as much as I enjoyed using it, the MKIII is in another league! It really is an outstanding bit of kit! :)

Is the autofocus as good as the reviews say
If. I order now I can still get the free battery grip
Don't think pc word have the grip as a free option
Mmmm tempted now
What shall I sell my 5d2 for ?

Do it. A superb camera. Lives up to all the hype. Only bettered by the 1DX.

Finger poised over the buy button

Need want need want
Think a toss of the coin may help LOL

You will notice the difference and then you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner...

Buy it and then spend a bit of time reading the manual before you play with it. I'm sure there'll be a .pdf version online you can browse. :)

Seriously. Since ive bought mine my 1D MkIV has hardly seen the light of day. And the MkIV is a bloody fine camera.

Anyone want a PDF of Arthur Morris's 5D MkIII guide let me know. Not as good as his 1D MkIV guide but worth a read.

I would like a look at the guide you mentioned
Still not pressed the buy button yet

In my opinion "is it worth the cost" is always subjective because it's really "is it worth the cost to you", as others have said it's an excellent camera and you will notice a big difference.

Good point
I guess if I was guaranteed to sell 5d2 I would order without a 2nd thought ,
Still got till end of day to order with free grip

The 5d2 will always sell - the key question is what is a realistic valuation ?

Its a coin I have been spinning away with myself, and still remain undecided.

People keep saying you will notice a big difference - but is that really in ease of use, more features (many of which the average person might not use anyway) or more importantly better reproduced photos of what you have seen.

I know the quality of a photo should be attributed to the photographer and not the camera - but is the end result of the Mk3, significantly better than the same photo with the Mk2, for your average enthusiast, as opposed to pro user ?

I have/had a 5D mk1, I have just bought a Mk3, took me ages to decide, I'm very glad I did.
Rarely, if ever, have I been so pleased with any purchase. I doubt very much you will regret it. Even if you do you wont lose a fortune selling it, but I doubt you'll sell it.
I bought mine for a number of reasons, the AF, which so far has proved superb, the exposure control, which so far has proved to be superb, the weather proofing improvements and the fact I can now take one camera insteadd of two when I go out, my 5D1 and my 1Dmk2(n).
Well and truly worth the upgrade in my view.

Im sure that most people know this and, as far as I know, has not been changed with the latest firmware update.

The SD slot is limited in speed to 133x. I only use a CF card. If you are saving to both cards at the same time e.g Raw to CF and jpeg to SD the camera defaults to the slowest card speed.

I find the RAW buffer to CF card is the limiting factor, so for high speed bursts I use a single CF card and drop Jpegs onto it or add an SD and have them very as small files.
I did a few very small jpeg files to an SD card the other day and was amazed at the quality, admittedly they wouldnt have taken a lot of cropping or making large but for screen viewing they were very good, fine as a backup if they were only for web use.

Do it - you'll not regret it ;)
I sold both my 7D and 5D II for the 5D III,as I didn't use the 7D often enough.
Never looked back since.

Im so tempted to put my two cameras up for sale - trouble is I don't want to be without a camera in the meantime :(

Yeah I was the same. Real glad I did in the end though.
As I said earlier I hardly used my 7D,and found it uneconomical to keep it - collecting dust like it was.

Been photographing ospreys recently and couldnt fill the buffer with the shutter held down from the bird hitting the water to it flying out of range. 20+ full size raw images

You know there's a Mk4 around the corner :)
Just kidding.
I dont think you'll be disapointed, one thing that struck me was how good my (L) lenses seem to have got overnight, I'm pretty sure the Mk1 wasnt actually making the most of them (or my post processing).

Ordered mine today also but from HDEW -- MK2 sold straight away, just need to sell the 7D before the credit card statement arrives next month :)

Did u get the free grip?
Mines been delivered this morn
Just on way home now for a play
Hope my 5d 2 sells as quick

Didn't get a free grip but a free 4gb CF card, and the total cost with delivery was under £1960.

And equally good is I get 3 years warranty as well

Im sure your camera will sell quickly, they are superb cameras that's why so many are still used by all sorts of photographers - best of luck, and thanks for starting the thread and inspiring / pushing me into action :)
