Upgrade my d5100....or buy a new lens?

Hi, im thinking of upgrading my d5100 and one of my main reasons is because the focus is too slow for me!
I miss a lot of great shots just because the subject isnt focused yet!
I was wondering if its the same on other cameras like d7000 or d7100 which they have built in motors, does the lens determine the speed too?
Will i be better off buying a new lens?

Im using the nikon 50mm 1.8!

The 50 1.8 should focus pretty quick. I'd go with a new body personally as the focus system on the two cameras you have listed is much improved.
