Upgrade Lightroom

I have downloaded the new version of Lighroom, version 3.5

When I got to install it it wants to put it in a new folder which will mean two installs of Lightroom.

Do I just uninstall the old version, if so, what happens to my catalogues?

Don't know much on this but if you have the old version you can upgrade to the new version and it's only around £70 ish
