Hi guys I'm quite new to photography and was wondering if I should spend money on a good body or good glass first. Currently only have an 1100d to see if I liked photography before spending a tonne.

Thanks

What do you use the camera for? and do you have a budget?

Get few lenses, see what fits your photography and then think of upgrading the body. Good start would be something wide like 10-22mm, assuming that you already have 18-55mm kit lens, and also a telephoto lens like 70-300mm range. :)

What is it that your current kit is missing?

IQ, low light handling, reach ETC..

The only body that makes a good shot is the one behind the camera. You.

Tell us why you're not satisfied with what you have first.

Is there something that your current camera can't do? How about your lens?

Hi Jack

You've got the Canon 1100D, other than the 18-55 lens - what other lenses do you have ?

Is the 18-55 the IS or non IS model - if it's the non IS model, I would upgrade this lens - you then need to set yourself a budget...

Depending on what other lenses you have, depends on the advice people can give really...

I usually start by asking "what is my current gear not giving me?
  • do I need a wider/longer lens?
  • do I need a faster lens?
  • do I need better ISO?
  • More FPS?
  • better auto focus (that could be technique)
Ask, and answer these questions and you'll be halfway there.
