Is it worth it, and the best way to go about it as cheaply as possible?
I'm a student on a tight budget!

I know I definetly want the HD film capabilities, and I love my lenses and the current specs of my 1000D, but I want to start making short films for my father.

Certainly worth it if you want the video option and are already bought into Canon lenses.

Best way? Keep and eye here and here for good prices and deals and go through a cashback site to get a few pounds back.

If happy to go for a used camera, take a look at some of these sellers.

Very happy to go for used! My current 1000D was the only one left in the shop, and infact, the display model!

Looking at Canon's refurbished auctions and checking out local camera shops this week. When I've bagged the new one I'll just have to sell the 1000D to repay it in half. Any ideas on the best place to sell?

you could sell it on the classifieds here once you get access or ebay.

I guess here I'd prefer, as I could set a price and not have to deal with huge ebay cuts! I was thinking about £350-400 range.. is that sensible or too much?

My experience is with Nikon although when I first got a DSLR I had a choice between the D60 and 1000D - there was very little between them.

A used D60 (body only) is about £200 or so at MPB so I'd expect a 1000D to be about the same.
