Update - Dell outlet/Laptop advice

I'll be honest, I'd choose a laptop with an SSD and use a USB3 external drive over a 5400rpm mechanical drive any day. They just make such a huge difference to general system responsiveness. I've not used one, but i suspect even the 'hybrid' SSHD's that are around would be almost as good.

My Laptop has a 128gb drive. It's fine for almost anything, I have a portable USB3 HDD for my bulk storage.
 
Makes sense I suppose. I've always just been used to viewing my pictures on the laptop kind of as and when and I presume if I wanted to do that with the small ssd drive I'd just have to connect it. No big deal I suppose.
 
I have an Asus Zenbook 128gb SSD I5 Ultrabook & have also converted a 128gb ssd as a external drive for quick access all this then backs up on to a NAS drive :)
 
Snagged a nice DELL from the outlet.....Bit naughty spent more than I wanted too.....wouldn't you know ; - )
 
The outlet updates go on around 3pm.I believe they still have a years next day service also.Ive had three XPS systems from there,been great no issues at all with them and no marks scratches on any.The windows media is not supplied as you have a restore partition,you could at one time pay extra and have a disc supplied though.
 
There is a facility included to create a restore disc to take the machine back to factory settings: well worth the price of a USB memory stick.
 
Guys, just on the dell's - what are your thoughts on the all in ones? Really like the look of these - like iMac with less polish. I need another machine as the kids are commandeering the laptop and I'm getting antsy that they're gonna wreck it and I'll be without. I have a dell Inspiron i3 at the min.

Also can anyone buy the outlet business machines or do they care or even find out?

Anyone can buy the business ones but do tell them its for personel use. It should be a retail bill you receive as there are limited consumer protection when buying as a business -I found that out the hard way!

My *personal* view is that the all-in-ones are an extremely bad idea. You get the retarded performance of a laptop, but without portability. There is reduced upgradeability and if the screen becomes faulty or you want to replace the base unit with something faster in a few years then the whole lot goes in the bin. The single advantage is that they take a little less space. If I were desperate for a machine with a small footprint then I'd consider a system built in a small case that can be bolted to the back of a good monitor - most of the advantages of an iMac with few of the disadvantages.
