One for the planespotters out there. I saw an unmarked 747 200 parked next to the old runway at Edinburgh Airport. It is very unusual to get one of these in Edinburgh as the runway is a wee bitty short for them.
It was almost completely white with a thin light blue stripe along the fuselage. The tail was completely blank too so I'm guessing it wasn't one of the main airlines.
Didn't manage to get a reg off it as I was passing on the train at the time.

Anyone know whose it might be and what it was doing there?

Might be being going through a change of owner, or perhaps even retired and on it's way back to the States?

No idea about the jumbo, but I went looking on Google satellite to generally have a look at Edinburgh airport and noticed a blue 737 parked on grass at the west end of runway 06. It's odd. Not only parked at the end of an in-use runway, but a heavy aircraft on grass. I expect it has probably gone by now.

Loving the sign in that photo... Like who would want to argue right of way with one of those buggers?

Edit: Found this link with more info about it.

So these are the fruits of the labours of all those spotters collecting numbers around the airports. SP - quite rare. A Saudi Airlines one still flies in to Heathrow.

What the hell is one o them doing sitting at Edinburgh? An airport that VERY rarely ever sees a 747?

It's a KLM 737 taking off, not on the grass
