I bought this bulk loader from an auction site for £17.75 (including p&p). It was advertised with an unknown film in it:

The loader seems in good condition. I've spooled a short length and then dev'd it without exposing it to any light hoping to see if there were any edge markings. I used 8 month old ID-11 for 10 mins.

Am I right in thinking the mystery film is fogged? No images expected of course but shouldn't the neg be completely clear? Bottom right corner is the leader end and exposed to light whilst removing the cassette from the loader.

I'd try cutting off a bit from inside the loader (in total darkness) and developing it in black and white chemicals and see what you get, it might be still usable-ish.

Well I'll now never know. Went to practice loading a cassette, set the dial to 37 and at around 15 exposures wound - no tension. So the mystery film ran out!!

Kentmere 100 bulk roll arrives tomorrow so the next attempts will be for real.

I had the same situation. Given an old daylight loader, unknown film... Ooh, what will it be?

Three turns in, the end of the roll.
