uniquegardens 52 for 2010 - wk 15 "Single" pg 7

Week 1, lovely, curved all over the place, and love the colours

Very good, the shot fits the poem perfectly, sharp and I like the colours.

Thats very kind of you jgs001.

Love the colour version of Curves, and there are definitely a lot of curves in there

Great shot to accompany the peom too.

Thank you Bruja so much

Hi Graham - just trying to catch up with some of the 52s I missed last week.

Week 1: I can't chose between the colour and the mono version - both work perfectly (in different ways) for me. The colour-matched border is cool!

Week 2: This poem is a little gem (I like silly rhymes!) and your photo is a honey. :) I love the composition, the colours - everything, in fact, including another colour-co-ordinated border. The components work beautifully together, and of course, it's bang on theme.

Can't wait to see your Week 3. :)

Jean

Hi Jeangenie,
Catching up, I know what you mean, there a lot of 52's but, I am certainly enjoying doing my first one, it can only help me improve.

You are far to kind and I am truely flattered and thank you so much I am glad you like it. :) - I am just about to post week 3.

Fruit Cocktail

Here's my attempt at a Fruit Cocktail "please enjoy"

....I did

thank you for looking

Yummy and very creative, so where did you get the idea from or is it one of your very own creations? Either way I love it

Here goes...

Nice... if not a little boring.

I am quite pleased with the way it turned out

So you should be. I think it's great! I thought the peas were sprouts to start with, and wondered what the stringy stuff was, but the poem was short enough for me to read and on my level mentally, so everything's now crystal. Love it! This might be my fave poem shot I think.

Graham, that not only looks delish, but it's very cool too. Well done!

Like the fruit cocktail - the cream adds a real luxurious look to it - I might try that for dessert tomorrow! Really well executed shot, well done.

Week 2 - What an interesting shot! Took me a little while to figure out it was a knife, hehe.. but loving it! Peas and honey, eww.... Very creative, well done!

Week 3 - loving this again, great colours, the cream looks soooo tempting. Very good! Did it taste as nice as it looks? :D

I really like your take on this weeks theme Graham!
The colours really stand out from the black background, and the icing sugar on the base really makes it jump out at your screen. Very 3 dimensional feel to it.

Im going to go against the grain here though and say that im not sure on the cream? It is definitely needed, and adds to the shot, but im not 100% on it.. though I cant offer a suggestion on what it is I would change on it.. Hmm .. Perhaps if it was a bit more textures. Like when you use a piping bag through a star shaped funnel?

Overall though I really like this, and look forward to seeing next weeks effort

What a great collection of shots so far Graham. Fruit Cocktail is excellently lit and the black background really works. This is not an M&S Fruit Cocktail - this Graham's!

Ian.

Great Chopped shot, works really well with the background, plus nice lighting too.

Brilliant photo, I really like the icing sugar around the bottom. How did you light it?

Looks very tasty and very "chopped". Lovely photo. The colours are brilliant.

Jenny

Thank you Jenny - it was

Cheers Alby, I'd like to take the credit but with the wife sitting next to me No, between me and you it was "I" - glad you like

Nice... if not a little boring.

They do don't they, thats what I first thought when I saw it on the computer, should've used Tin Peas.

Thats extremely kind of you to say so, Thank you so much.

Looks lovely and especially the way the cream is sliding down, only trouble is my spoon wont get through the laptop screen to taste it:'(

 you can get a touch screen, what about a taste screen (wouldn't happen) - Thank you club17.

Graham, that not only looks delish, but it's very cool too. Well done!

Thank you The23rdman, appreciate it.

Oh i love your 'chopped' picture!! It looks really yummy and making my mouth water!! :D lovely colours very welldone you! :D

WOW i love all your 3 weeks so far.
I'm so inspired.

Hi Ricky T, thank you for your kind words, very nice of you, I'll try.

Like the fruit cocktail - the cream adds a real luxurious look to it - I might try that for dessert tomorrow! Really well executed shot, well done.

Cheers Dave, hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed this one.

Hi there, thanks very much, I was going to tilt it slightly to make it more apparent but, I like the mystery feel of it.

Thank you and yes IT did but, not good for the waist line.

I really like your take on this weeks theme Graham!

Thank you, I was worried about that (too flat looking) the icing sugar did work disappearing from front to back.

As for the cream, that did cross my mind but I thought it would look unnatural, strange even, (I'll try it) and I wanted it to look as if it was flowing (running).

I like that.

I hope it didn't go to waste?

cheers, oh no, no waste.

What a great collection of shots so far Graham. Fruit Cocktail is excellently lit and the black background really works. This is not an M&S Fruit Cocktail - this Graham's!

Ian.

Thanks Ian appreciate it. Funny you should mention M&S, the fruit was brought from them. (catchy little slogan - I like it)

like the take on the chopped theme and well executed !

Thank you

Great Chopped shot, works really well with the background, plus nice lighting too.

Cheers for that, glad you like...

Brilliant photo, I really like the icing sugar around the bottom. How did you light it?

Thanks photomaker you're too kind - it was back lit. I'm thinking now what it would have looked like from lighting it from underneath aswell - I'll give it ago.

__________

Cheers Guy and Girls I am flattered.

Your not the only person who thought that, I can only put it down to the creases in the peas. I will use fresh next time. (lesson learnt)

Love them all, but especially week 2. Even though i now know what it is i just keep staring at it :bonk:

Cheers for your kind words Rich.

I love that 'Chopped' shot Graham - fantastic lighting

Thank you so much.

I love your "chopped" entry - it is the best I've seen!:clap::clap:

The 'white' of the cream seems yellower at the top than further down - were you using mixed lighting? It doesn't really bother me, though.
Yummmmy!

Graham

I just had to have another look at your 'chopped' pic - the lighting is fantastic.

I know you said it was backlit, but would you mind giving a bit more detail ? Also, how did you keep the base so black ?

Cheers

Andy

Well thats just annoying. I spend quite a bit of time coming up with a concept, shooting it, getting the lighting and focus just so and am all pleased. I then go to see what everyone else has done and the first damn thread I find the b****r has a better image than me.

Pah!!!

Love it, great concept, well executed, I'm jealous. Lovely work.

beautiful fruit cocktail image. Have to admit, I saw this the other day and been thinking of your fruit cocktail since!! mmmmm Seriously, the best "chopped" image that I've seen so far

:) I can assure you it did taste nice, probably doesn't help does it?.
Now, that is far too kind (it must be the only one you've seen) - thank you very much.

Yummmmy!

I didnt. I notice that in PP; going to re-shoot to see why. The back light which was slightly above the subject, may be I got it in too close.

Graham

Hi Andy, you have PM.

And I have too - excellent. Only just found this one - these 52's don't have slipped down the page quick

They do don't they, I am still trying to catch-up.

Thank you holryn.

Hi Squawk, sorry...but I know exactly where you're coming from.
cheers for your kind comments, way too kind.

Wow. loving your chopped pic. I really would expect to see this for a large supermarket's ad campaign and it's almost like the black space on the top of the picture is screaming out for some sort of text.........
Well done, 3 weeks, 3 great shots - look forward to the 4th!

Hi Graham, Fantastic start to the project lovely colours in the first one, the flower, but the peas are ace,I also thought they were sprouts at first glance, the reflections have come out really well and nice little ditty. Chopped, again has great variation in colour, a good standard to keep up......Mick

Hi Pradipta,
Not sure what to say but, to say thank you so much,
"as-da-licious" better than anything.

cheers Mick, thank you, as for the peas looking like sprouts, (not sure thats good) it must be the creases?. As I said, I wasn't completely happy with the reflections because of the slight ghosting.
It can only get harder.
