Uninstalling a security program ! " Help needed"

Hi guys I am having trouble trying to uninstall a program.

mcaffe security.

When I click on uninstall it gives me the option to continue so i click ok. And another box opens !!!! then nothing. just nothing happens . the box that opens looks like it has not opened completely . but all i can do is close it with the x in the top right corner.

Anyone got any ideas....

I need to uninstall it so i can put something else on . as i can not click any smilies/ post any photos . and it is stoping some of the applications on the wifes facebook

Do you know which version it is? If it won't uninstall via it's own installer thing's could get complicated very quickly

when i click on the small icon on the tool bar " bottom of screen " it gives me some options

Open security centre.
updates
quick links

and such But when i click on these it just opens a box onto the screen Which i can do nothing with Basically its empty. But it will allow me to close it..????

I have had the pc just over a year if this helps.
 
If you do a web search you should be able to find a step by step approach to removing McAfee.

It will require you to remove aspects of you registry, which should be backed up first as its risky. You will probably have to be in windows safe mode aswell (pressing F8 as the computer starts gets this option).

You get in to the registry by goning to 'run' under the windows tab and then writing 'regedit'

There may be a step by step removal guide direct from McAfee as well.

Its a pain following the steps but the only way I could find as unable to remove using windows.
