Unexpected time off work

Hi all,

I'm looking for some inspiration for a short break I plan to make in November.

I've been given an extra three days leave from work and want to use it to head off somewhere random with a rucksack and my camera. In completely open to suggestions and don't really have a specific type of place I'm looking for. It could be mountains, cities etc...

I'm in Abu Dhabi, so somewhere like the US or the Far East would be too much, but anything else is a possibility!

Any suggestions?

How about Pakistan or India or even Turkey? (I have never visited any countries in that part of the world)
Probably Turkey would be my preference.

Went to Thailand last year and it was amazing. If you like the quiet life try Koh Lanta in the south.

India is worth a visit especially with the exchange rate being so good at the moment. I can recommend a visit to Madurai then a short trip south west into the mountains and ending up on a boat trip on the Kerala lakes. Take a train up to Mumbai - an experience in itself.

Somewhere a bit closer to home:

Oman. Completely different sights and sounds to UAE and if you fancy untouched beaches with gorgeous seascapes and landscapes try Masirah Island.

Another vote for india. So much to see and photo opportunities galore. I did a 6 month trip there, and much preferred the North to the South. Uttar Pradesh is bonkers, and anywhere in the North West is spectacular. Add into the mix cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Varanasi, Amritsar etc and you will be spoilt for choice
