Unexpected Camera Shake

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place foe this post but .....

I've just returned from Farnborough and I have a lot of images with camera shake.
My settings were D5100 c/w Sigma 150-500 OS, S mode (1/1000s), Auto ISO (max 1600, min 1/1000 s), AF-C, Area AF, matrix metred, on a monopod.

I would have thought at 1/1000s with OS on there would be no camera shake

What did I miss/ do wrong?

having OS on and sat on a monopod may have been the problem. The OS could have been working against the monopod and the system not being able to stabilise things. At those speeds, I doubt you would have needed OS
 
Probably the vibration reduction. If you have an active switch, for the VR, use that. Active mode will only look for vibration laterally (sideways), which would be useful on a monopod. The normal os should not be used on a monopod or tripod as it can actually introduce vibration.

As Gary said, turn off IS or VR. Only need horizontal if panning (you need slow shutter speed).
 
as per.. simply dont use image stabalisation.. it slows down af when aquiering the subject as well..
