Hi everyone,

My name is John and I'm based in Windsor. I've signed up in the hope of finding information on which camera to buy as an step up from smartphone cameras. I guess I'll be a typical P&S candidate and am primarily interested in taking nice pictures of my children, but I also like taking pictures of my personal vapourisers (aka e-cigarettes).

Unenthusiastic beginner is a tongue in cheek comment meant to indicate that I would like to keep things simple to begin with as I don't have the time or budget to dive too deeply into the world of photography. I will start a thread asking for some advice on a couple of cameras I'm currently looking in to. In the meantime, I'm enjoying some of the stunning photography in the Gallery.
 
Welcome John, we are a helpful lot, so ask away, there is a dedicated secion called Talk Equipment that will get you some answers :thumbs:

We're a friendly bunch so please get comfortable and make yourself at home :)

As already said, Talk Equipment is the best place to get some advice on camera types and you may also find Talk Basics useful to get you up and running once you get your camera.
Make sure that you let other posters know where you are with your photography and the level of advice that you want though!

BTW We have a lot of E-Ciggie fans here too. In fact there's a dedicated thread all about them here.
 
Heya John Welcome to TP! keeping it simple to start is probably a good idea and at least that way you don't get bogged down with too much info, plus budget is always a pain in the... bleep bleep!

I'm one of the avid ecig'ers so i shall look forward to maybe seeing you over there too as well as around the rest of the forum:wave:

Thanks everyone for the welcome. :)

I've now bought a Nikon J1 twin lens kit and may be looking into an 18.5mm f1.8 lens mainly for indoor shots. First impressions are very good, but I'll need to spend some more time with it before splashing out on another lens.

I'm Spanish as it happens Sara, from Galicia. My dad was just over this week and brought me some delicious jamon jabugo and chorizos. yum.
 
Welcome to the forum John, nice to see that you've now got your camera...I'm sure it will serve you well, for me the best way I've always learnt is to get out and play with my camera, and then get honest feedback on the photos, so get out there using that new beast you've got :thumbs:
