Underwater Photography

I'm planning on a trip to Sharm el sheikh in the not too distant future and am looking for a decent Sony compact ( as i can get a massive discount on them), to take pictures while diving. Does anyone have any experince/recomendations in this area, cheers.

Sorry, can't help with the Sony. I have a Fuji when I go diving.

However, I would recommend that the camera has automatic white balance and that you can turn the flash off. The flash will only reflect off of the particles in the water and ruin your shot. An alternative would be a strobe if you're interested.

Cheers, if the sony aren't particulaly good i dont mind getting somethiong else if the price is right, which model have you got?
