Friend of mine is after something to allow her to shoot babies in a swimming pool. Anyone got a source? She'll be looking to buy one if there proves a demand for the pix, but wants to trial without having to shell out £1,500 or so.

To get the kind of results people like Water Babies get she'll need strobes as well as the housing, at a guess a budget of £3000 is a more realistic figure
The BSoUP website is a good resource for all things underwater photography.

Cheers Spike. Have passed it along. It does does seem like a lot to shell out in the current dodgy market. But, she's very bright and has been around the block so will do the sums properly.

Hire of just a housing is tricky - they need a lot of maintainance and are specific to a camera lens combo. You can hire but it needs a whole system

So we've been finding. She's found a Surfer Dude with good kit who's going to come along to the pool with her and do some shots, which should be interesting, but I think she's thinking the outlay is unlikely to pay. Thanks for the suggestions.

Jon, what system does she have? Im currently trying to sell my D7000 system if interested, or may hire it out if I can work out a way that is acceptable to all parties

Its my system I have dived with for the last couple of years, if you look at my flickr you will see my photos.

You will also see the housing in there as well

OK, I'll tell her about it, but I think she's gone off the idea now she's seen what's involved. But thanks anyway. I'll get back to you if her eyes light up.
