Understanding Flash trigger

I want to control my flash off camera and am considering buying a Yongnuo YN-622 trigger.

I want ETTL which is why I am interested in this trigger and I think thats what this will give me. My flash is a Sunpak PZ42X.

What I want to know is if I am understanding the functionality properly. I think that the remote controlling of the settings on this flash (in manual mode) will not work as its not on the compatibility list but apart from that, the ETTL will work just as it does for a 'compatible flash'. Am I understanding this properly?

If I then buy an extra unit, can I then also trigger a very old flashgun on manual, provided I set the settings on the flash?

If I am wrong, can anyone suggest an alternative? Thank you.

The compatible cameras and flash units are listed on page 4 of Ther Other YN-622C User Guide on the following

As you have upgraded your camera, you may need to upgrade your flash if you want to use the 622C's.

This site may help you, it has everything about the 622C's http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35

It would also help you by adding camera bag details as well as your location on your Profile, that way members don't need to ask and it may make more local help for you.

Thankyou. A very useful article. It looks like I was correct. I can use the Sunpak with the YN-622 but will have to adjust it on flash rather than with my camera menus if I want to use manual.

This will allow me to make a start with off camera flash whilst retaining ETTL.

Has anyone used these who could recommend them?
