Not sure if this has been posted already (couldn't find it in a search, but if it has, just delete my post), but just came across this tutorial on understanding exposure. As a beginner I found it easy to follow and understand. It contains some useful diagrams and examples and doesn't get overly complicated.

Thought it might have been posted somewhere...but like you say its a useful link.

Some other really useful tutorials on there too such as understanding PP and some basic photography concepts. Going to spend a good few hours reading through it.
 
Cambridge in Colour is possibly the best site for clearly explained complicated stuff. Very highly recommended.
 
TBH, I never found the concept hard to understand, it was exposure compensation that threw me (until I put the camera in manual mode).
