Some of you may have read about my garage being targetted last week, but since then we have found out a family has moved into our street about a block away and are a family of known thieves, the family comprise of what we think are five brothers ranging from 14 to 18-19.
Since they moved in all cycles in most sheds have dissapeared and most garden furniture from our elderly neigbours, We have had our garage targetted twice but it stood up well and they made off empty handed but today we saw them trying a workmans van but before I could get a shot for evidence the workmen spotted them and they were off......
Tonight a neigbour rang Eileen to tell her they were climging into our flats through a window so the police have been called yet again as it now is beginning to look like burgalrary is on the agenda but the police still dont want to act untill they actually do some harm.
Why do I pay my council tax......

Sorry to hear that Pete
but its the classic isn't
" we can't do anything" unless "something" happens

I love this scenario I heard awhile ago, ( I doubt that its true though) ...
Police?
I have a burglar in my garden
Sorry ma'am we have no cars available
at this time
phone goes down
5 minutes later
Police?
That burglar in my garden
Yes ma'am we still have no cars available
Thats OK Officer, no rush I have just shot the little [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]

Erm, we will be there in two minutes................

But I thought you had no cars available.............

Cheers Chris brightened my day lol now where can I get a gun.......lol

i had a good one a few years back a transit van tried a raid on our warehouse i spotted it a long time before it was going to happen and warned the police via 999 we have units on the way sir..........
so rings my dad to get his arse down not much we could do with 30 of the littler barstewards any way after the ram raid we went inside the builing to see what damage etc they caused oh and by the way still no police...........

after half hour we had every officer in the town with us and all turned up withing 5 secs of each other WTF

They come over to my dad and says what has happend then ?

omg there is a transit van sticking into our building so my dad says wtf do you think has happened - police dont swear please **** off my dad said

we will have to arrest you if you keep swearing - Dad how about you get the **** off my property big stand off for 5 mins this did happen a few times with no help from the police what is the point of council tax - councill rates etc they could of atleast got a few of them but no they just didnt turn up till it was too late

and they also burnt our building down aswell as sverall others 2 years ago so trust in police erm jsut dont have it any more they are jsut useless

Security cameras are cheap, failing that webcams are cheaper but less flexible.

Get a big dog to watch over everything mate, failing that, go round and see them - 'no *****' attitude. We had this last year, police did nothing but aggrevate them and the trouble, so, I went around with a pickaxe handle and made sure they knew that if they ever came onto my property again I'd break their legs and sit on their cat.

Shame how the minority ruin it for the majority.

Our local mob never turn up until it is wayyyy too late. They're too busy hiding behind trees with radar guns making sure they raise enough money for the Christmas swally.

Woah there!!!! I gotta step in at this point!

Sure, when police cant turn up quickly enough I'm sure its very, very frustrating. But dont point the finger at the officer on the front line. The fact is, if they cant turn up immidiately to a 999 call its not because they "cant be bothered" to show up, it will be because they are already dealing with a 999 call and there arnt enough officers on the ground, so its a case of dealing with the most urgent ones first.

I'd be interested to ask people how many police officers they think are on duty in their town / area in any one time. The answer may surprise you.

The government simply wont pay for enough police officers to deal with modern day demand.

(And its only about 11% of the council tax on average that goes towards policing).

i have seen from personal experience a fight kick off (not just the one occasion) and call in 999 and the local civic ( CCTV) council and walk around the corner to look for officers and there sat there in there van waiting on telling them they react so slow you cook a egg faster i know a few frontline officers and alot from local traffic and you want to hear what they tell us about certain front line officers it is no wonder the dont always turn up

and to let you know i was working with a police and council partnership basically doormen walking around town and assisting with fights with police and many other scenarios so i do know what they are like

Some years ago when I was living out in the sticks in East Sussex a neibours alarm was going off. It was a very large house as the were VERY wealthy. I dialed 999 and the police said they couldn't get there very quickly, would you please go and have a look and see if there is anybody up to no good".

So I am supposed to go and risk a beating by disturbing burglers am I? As it happened a window had been put through and the culprit had scampered.

Hmmm, I think you are generalising somewhat as my experiences are totally the opposite! There's always the odd bad apples though, just as in any job.
