I have never had any trouble untill now.

I bought a Sigma 15-30 - because it was quite inexpensive, well built and sturdy - and it wouldnt matter if it was knocked or broken.

It has been on my 20D, 1000D and 400N with no issues since i bought it last september.

Now all of a sudden it is showing Error 99 on the 20D and Error something on the 1000D - i have tried cleaning the contacts and no luck.

Any help?

Thanks

I may consider that but i find it wierd how it still works on the film camera?

Also - i can imagine sigma charging extortionate prices for a lens that cost me £150 - but i'll give it a go

Have you updated the firmware on your digital bodies recently?
As I am sure you know Sigma reverse engineer to work on Canon's and new bodies sometimes dont work with a lens that works fine on an old body but as yours was working fine on all 3 bodies it seems it might be something else.

nope i havent updated anything

They worked fine on the digitals for nearly a year then it has just abrubptly stopped

It worked on all apertures and now wont work on any if that helps

Could that be the reason? Just a thought...

Nope i havent knocked it

Just the wierd thing it works on my eos analogue cameras

Old Sigma lenses get chipped to work on digital bodies, I have heard of a chip failing before and I've also heard of a broken contact. Sigma service I've always found pretty good so that would be my first port of call.

thats what i mean by saying is might be an old lens as its not listed anywhere

I bought mine in 2003 so maybe they stopped making them around or soon after then. Not that old though.
