Nope, not the title of a song. Well, yes, it was, but that isn't what I mean.
For some of my work I use a compact, I have a G12 and waterproof housing for use on the kayak and from in the water pictures (used it recently for getting shots from in the water of Rescuing a drowning casualty). It is pretty good, but the wide angle availability was a bit lacking, so I bought a second one, a Nikon P7100 which I can't get a housing for. I have a wide angle adaptor fo rit which takes it 21mm equiv...marvellous. I use this one for "dry" shoots (shooting, fishing that type of thing) and the G12 for out at sea.
Well, I cannot believe the price of goodies for these things, and DSLR too. I bought an infra red remote for the P7100, it was £2.85 DELIVERED and it works perfectly.
I then needed a small, go anywhere tripod, so I started hunting - a gorrillapod is ideal, I can wrap it around railings, fence posts or trees and use the infra red to set the camera off from up to 50 yards away - when doing this kind of thing I am rarely more than 20 feet. Th eGorillapod was even cheaper - how can anyone do it, including delivery, for £1.25.
As I say, unbelievable.
