I had two jpeg files that were taken on Nikon's, uploaded to a CF card.
I knew I could not view them in camera (Canon) or on DPP, but thought I would see them in LR3.
On uploading to LR3 - preview unavailable for this file, followed by - the files appear to be unsupported or damaged.
In windows, although I can't see the photo's, the properties state - CR2 file 19MB.
Any help appreciated:)

Lightroom 3 is now two versions old. If the camera files you are trying view are from a camera newer than about March 2012 (when LR4 was released) then LR3 will probably not be able to read the RAW files. Once a new version of Adobe software is released support for older versions stop. So Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw support for new cameras stops when the new version of those software come out.

There is a way around it without spending any money, in that you can convert the RAW file to DNG file using Adobe's DNG converter, which will make it readable by any version of the Adobe software.

Or you could upgrade Lightroom. ;)

CR2 is the Canon RAW file name so things have got mixed up at some point.
A jpg from any source shouldn't be a problem for lightroom or any other program for that matter.
