That's it, as what it says on the tin.

I'll add a bit of detail anyway. I'm currently using Lightoom 2.5 on Windows 7 and it all works fine with JPEGs and everything.
Then one day I thought I'd delve into the murky depths of RAW processing after years of dealing with JPEGs . . . but I am unable to import my Nikon D3100's NEF file into Lightroom. I get this an "Unknown error occured" message (nor can I preview the image).

Yet, the strange thing is that I can view that very same NEF file using Window's Preview window.

I've scoured the interweb for updates and such like. I have been able to "upgrade" my current lightroom from 2.5 to 2.7 and not only was I still unable to view NEF files, I lost the "Open With" function when I right click a JPEG file to open in lightroom (much easier this way, especially when looking through a memory card and I see a keeper!), so I returned back to V 2.5.

Any hints or help on this matter would be very much appreciated. You know how it is. :D

D3100 only available in Adobe Camera Raw 6.3 which is Lightroom 3 only....

Aaaah, that explains it, thank you. I have found the Raw 6.3 update and loaded that up onto my PC but was unable to intergrate it into my Lightroom 2.5.

Will have to call it quits on that and just carry on playing with Jpegs, especially since budget will be tight after having been recently made redundant. :)

Download the Adobe DNG converter and use RAW->DNG->Lightroom 2.x

Will try that, thank you, but going to get some fresh air first!

Thanks for the quick replies.

Just discovered that Lightroom is quite happy to take on RAW files from my trusty old S5600.

Technology, don't you just love it. :D

Well, that has worked, at least in a roundabout kind of way. Not as straightforward as loading up a JPEG into Lightroom, something I have been so used to, but thank you! Can see how and why RAW files do come into their own when it comes to processing.

Now have to get bigger memory cards! :D Especially if I want to get serious with processing RAW images. :naughty:
