hi all, I received something in the post today I know I didn't order it but I also have no idea what it is. it seems to fit on the wrong end of a 58mm lens Like a reverse macro lens adapter but what its meant to connect to I have no idea.

Any ideas anyone?

If it actually fits on the front end of the lens I suspect, assuming it has thread on that larger outside circumference, then it might be a reversing ring with an M42 thread for mounting on a suitable old film body???

Edit ~ Si is likely a better analysis.........as having said what I did M42 is smaller than the OD of that item :coat:

I have something similar, I connect my camera to the 58mm part and the inner ring connects to a T adapter into my telescope.

Ah! perhaps I was "almost" right

The heavy lipped edge makes it look like a filter adaptor, the holder clipping to the outisde.

Looks like a wide angle filter adaptor.
Does it have a thread on the outer diameter?
What is the outer diameter measurement (not including the lip)?

Depending on answers, it may be something I could use.

figured it out its a ring adapter for a cokin 4 inch filter holder that the gf bought me to hold my ND filters..

Thanks for the update...........................glad you solved the mystery :)
