Hi all

To all togs who shoot with a 10-20, 10-22 or 12-24 (on APS-C), I was just wondering what focal lengths you tend use? In other words which ends do you use?

1. Mostly the wide end? i.e. 10-12mm?

2. Mostly use the middle of the range? i.e. approx 15-18mm?

3. Mostly the long end? i.e. 20-24mm?

I would be very interest to know. Thanks muchly! :D

Perhaps a mod could make this a poll, thanks! :)

I tend to exploit the wide end of my sigma 10-15mm

It worked!

I use the 17-40 on the 5D. No favourite but it vignettes with even the thinnest filter at 17mm so If I use a filter I'd say around 20mm.

Thanks to all who have voted so far! And thanks to the mods (RobertP I assume?).

The more astute of you will realsie what I was getting at here!

It seems the results would imply that I wouldnt get so much use out of a 15mm fixed than I would one of the ultra wide-angle zooms! :D

Thanks all, and any more votes anyone? :)

Mostly the 10mm end of my Sigma 10-20mm. It's still not wide enough :)

Yes Joe, but the 15mm fish eye looks so much FUN!!!!! (Can't you just have BOTH!)

Like all wimmin ... :naughty: ... she has expensive tastes Joe ... :suspect: ... i.e. you get one for you and the other for me ... :D ... just check out her 'borrowed' listing ...

Gotta be the wide end ... ... which kinda begs the question you are seeking to answer I presume ... :suspect: ... why bother with a zoom and just go for a prime wide ...

Indeedy ...

:p

10mm on the Sigma . Do you mean it has other focal lengths  :D :D :D
I only used one once (Mini let me loose with her's )

i don't use a cropped sensor so 17 is 17 :)

without taking the thread off topic

Robert.....what filters are you noticing the vignetting with?

I've not noticed anything om my 17 with the 5 with a polariser fitted ontop of the uv protection filter.

EF-S 10-22, so at 10mm it has a fisheye effect. It's a nice effect on rounded cars

I use my 10-22 mainly at the lower end. It's useful having the extra zoom available but I bought a UWA lens to take UWA pictures.
