I can't help wondering why no one has come up with a background that is translucent and lit from behind just like a softbox. Surly this would work better than aiming light at the front of an opaque material. After all the stress that poor old donkeymusic is having on that thread, I think if ever I were to want a studio setup like his, I would definately have a go at building something back lit. I think there would be all sorts of options with projecting shapes or effects onto and through it plus the lighting kit would be fairly simple and cheap.

Would it work? anyone seen it done?.

It's called a Lastolite HiLite background ;)

b****r, and there was I...:) I've reinvented about ten wheels since I took up this lark:lol:

Lighting through a backdrop needs more space than I currently have :( Shame, I can see such potential in it.
