Ultimate Selfie Camera?

Im not usually a gadget'y' type person, but I REALLY want one :D That is so cool!

Can I use Lily to spy on my neighbors?
Lily is always pointing at you and less than 100ft from you (pro tip: best shots are in the 10-30ft range). Also, Lily’s motors make noise. So other people will most likely notice Lily and quickly figure out where you are. You are better off climbing up a tree and using binoculars.

hehe

20 mins flight time but waterproof it if has to land on water. It's an interesting development.

max speed 25mph... pity, thought it might be an interesting "follow camera" for biking, but that speeds a bit of a dealbreaker.

Not the selfie camera I was expecting.. ..

that looks wicked, i thought about it following me on the motorbike but at 25mph maybe not, still a great bit of kit.

Be OK for the climbs, Mark!

I do a lot of video work and to me that video seems too stable to be coming from that drone. Looks more like it's been filmed on a separate drone with a gimbal rather than a fixed camera. watch a few videos of drones with fixed cameras and you'll see what I mean, they are very, very twitchy.

Neat idea though.

I know the feeling all too well!!!

Depends on how steep the downhill bits are... had over 100kph coming down off the buttertubs on last years TdF Etape 1.

Impressive. Best I managed was 48 mph coming off the Lecht, on a mtb with nobly tyres and 10kg of camping gear. I've never been so glad of disk brakes!

Presumably the thing would catch up when one hits the first hill though.

Saw this on fb earlier today, usd512 pre-order price to be shipped feb 16 was a tad tempting...

At this moment, the Lily Camera does not have any obstacle avoidance capabilities (cost and design choice). We have found that most outdoor activities do not need obstacle avoidance because Lily can follow the user's path. But again there are no guarantees that Lily will not hit anything while it is following you.

So basically, don't go near any trees, buildings... or anywhere that isn't just a flat space!

Still cool tech!

I like the look of that - be interesting to see how they progress the tech in version 2

You just know you're going to forget to charge it one day and then you throw it off a bridge...

How funny when a work colleague sent me a link to it ... I said the exact same thing. It would be something I do ;)

I like that the base unit puck it follows records the sound. It'd be like the pro. Where the subject wears a mike.

It'll also be great to drop the puck in some unsuspecting persons pocket. And watch them get chased down the street.

Interesting idea

From the tech specs it talks about Digital gimballing & Image stabilization, would these be enough to produce the video taken or perhaps some effect added after in post production to smooth it out further?

Very good point, more than likely yes. I did think about that after I posted, but it was too late at that point lol

Oh I love that. My gas cure is definitely cured, I want one. I want one now.

Pre-ordered.

Get a bargain on eBay a couple of weeks after it's delivered and I get bored.

While you're out of remission, what else are you going to treat yourself to?
