I saw this flying about today in Cromford, Derbyshire. It's operated by two people, one to fly the UAV, the other to operate the camera. Stills or video can be transmitted to a laptop or server. How cool is that.....

Now I like that a lot, not sure if I'd get more fun out of flying it or getting shots. Actually I would probably be to nervous to fly it, think of the cost if you get it wrong!!

There's a bit if fun around the law and UAVs with direct video feed in the UK. This summary is undated, but matches what I remember of something I read earlier this year (possibly in New Scientist).

I didn't even know these existed!!!! wow!!!

A lot of the snowboarding filmmakers are usr things like this and RC copters fitted with GoPros instead of big boom setups

Watch this video from about 3min 56 secs to see how things can go wrong, and in this situation it could have been extremely expensive, being a prototype Nikon D4. ;)

You can get some amazing views with that type of set up though. :)

Manchester police bought one then discovered they're not cleared to fly over people/crowds. Famously they also lost it into the river whilst on a 'test flight'.

You could actually build one of these relatively cheaply, if you had the know-how from plenty of reading!

I have started a similar quest for the same, but with a plane and live video feed and less high-end equipment.

The kit to do it yourself wouldn't be too bad, but you would need to rapidly learn how to control it, as they are very difficult - think of it as a Helicopter that has no penchant for moving in a particular direction. They are incredibly agile.
