Well folks, if you are a UK holidayer for whatever reason (health, funds etc), you are excluded from entering Round 8 - Travel, in their Photographer of the Year 2008.
".................we want you to share your photographic adventures overseas"

My other half says if I didnt spend all our dosh to tog kit, we could have afforded a foreign holiday. But what would be the point going without the kit:thinking:

Another interesting point is that if this comp is open to non UK residents (which I dont know), they could submit their shots of the UK. Confusing

Seriously, what do folks think? Is this a fair exclusion?

Well travel is the theme, i would ignore it and post anyway if you want to

Im confused here. The theme is travel, but if you're from the UK and travel to another country for purposes of a holiday, you're not allowed to enter?

Oh hang on, now I get it, they want overseas shots only, so people like me who don't go abroad, can't enter.

I don't think its a fair exclusion to be honest. I'm all for a wide variety of subjects, but if it's a UK publication, then the UK public should be taken into account.

The rules and regulations surrounding these competitions get stupider.
They are just ill-conceived and badly thought through by the people that run them.
Discriminatory ?...probably, but mainly just plain stupid.

The price you pay for living in a democracy.

What, the price being that stupid people aren't locked up :D

Aaaaah, if thats what we get, then I vote no to democracy! I know loads of stupid people that need locking away

Is that an official term or condition of the competition? or just part of the blurb. Trying to stop people submitting shots from their home country would be a lot of pointless work on their part, my guess it is just copy written by someone who didn't think it would be taken as a rule.

It's probably to stop you going for a five minute drive.

They'll want you to travel on a holiday type of thing, somewhere where you can't have a 10 minute drive there...

Blast I suppose that discounts Isle of Wight then!

Who's to know that photo of the Taj Mahal's kitchen was shot down a backstreet in Dewsbury and not India anyway..?
