Does anyone use these services? I used to, up to towards the end of last year, but their drivers are bloody useless, I've lived in the Flat nearly 15 and half years and bloody Uber drivers in general still can't find it because the Flats don't come up on Satnavs!

I can remember a time, and it wasn't THAT long since, when Taxi drivers actually KNEW their local area and didn't have to rely on Satnavs to get anywhere (probably because 30 odd years ago when I had to rely on Taxis to get to Secondary school, Satnav tech hadn't been invented yet)

Anyway to stop me from going on a pointless rant, does anyone else use Uber Eats or Just Eat services when they can't be bothered to raid the Freezer for a frozen Pizza or just fancy a Maccy D's?

The psycolists who do the deliveries for justuberoo are dangerous. Chatting to a staff member at one of the places they deliver from, the non delivery because one of the riders has "had an incident" is all to regular and having seen how they ride, I'm not surprised.

One from last Thursday was that I was overtaken in a 20 limit (apparently, cyclists aren't constrained by such laws as obeying speed limits...) by one with a deliveroo bag strapped to his back. As he went past, I could see that he was riding with no hands and was using his phone. He went straight over a zebra crossing (narrowly missing a pedestrain) on the wrong side of the road and carried on round the roundabout the wrong way and from there, down the wrong side of the road. The drivers and moped riders aren't much better and I'd doubt that many have the correct insurance for food deliveries.

I rarely eat fast food, but I was a "bit stuck" recently.
The car MOT took longer than expected a couple of issues that needed sorting, and very little in the house.
I bit the bullet, and ordered from Uber eats.
Once it arrived in a paper bag, once in a thermal bag.
Both times the food was luke warm, and the one in the thermal bag was from less than 5 mins away, by car.

Also, disregarding the delivery charges, the food was much more expensive than it would have been had I gone and fetched it.
And probably not from those places either.

I'm not falling for that again.

I use the one you get free with Amazon Prime not sure which it is. Been okay so far.

They have a habit of not telling you what exactly you can get, we use the free Morrison's delivery a lot as well, free photo storage, free deliveroo.

Do they?
I have a whole load of big adverts for Deliveroo and Morrisons come up when I go on there

Now I get that people use these services for takeaway curry or pizza (we have done a few times) but never understood why people get things like McD or 5 guys as it will all be Lukewarm and soggy when it gets to you!

I would be very surprised if he was doing more than 20 with no hands. On a flat bit of road (assuming no wind) I can do more than that on my road bike but it takes effort and holding on (aerodynamics). On my hybrid I could but its even harder, unless he is a pro cyclist I really can't see how he could do that!

What I've learned is that it's usually quicker (and considerably cheaper/less annoying) to pop across to Tesco and buy a frozen Pizza, bring it back and use Alexa to time the cooking of it.

It's a downhill stretch of road. I was doing 20 and he went past me.

For years our local Indian restaurant used their own staff to deliver meals, the food was generally good and the service too.

A year or more ago they signed up to Just Eat, their prices rose by about 25% or more and the service wasn’t as good, (I’d recognise the staff before and had a friendly relationship with them, I wouldn’t get that with JE I don’t think).

I don’t order from them now because of it:confused:

We have a problem because we have house numbers upto about 180-odd in our street. The problem is there is another street which backs onto our street with house numbers upto 160-odd but with their house numbers on their back doors. So, if you don't know the street, there are two of each house number and delivery drivers find then first one and assume that is us. I tell them that is not our street and they are looking at the back doors of another street but they do not listen.

I knew about Morissons, (I've never looked beyond that as I prefer to pick my own shopping) and the photo storage, but not about delieveroo.
Maybe I'll check it out should the need ever arise again.

I don't get all that, I've just logged in to double-check, and nope.

I will use deliveroo or ubereats normally once a month at most. More recently, we’re having a kitchen refurb. No functioning kitchen for the past two months so we have been more reliant on these services.

All been well except one night, the order just didn’t arrive. The courier had marked it as delivered. I had to complain (easy enough to do through the app) and had my order remade. By that point I was very angry and very hungry.

We get takeaways occasionally, usually via JustEat via Quidco so I get a few pence back. But I've noticed that delivery charges have gone up in the last year, It used to be generally £1-£1.50 but is often now £2-£2.50 or even £3 sometimes.
However, after a succession of Indian takeaways that have ben missing an item (papadom, side salad, even side dish once), and likewise with a pizza delivery a couple of times, and sometimes lukewarm food, we have decided No More Takeaways. The last straw was a few nights ago ordering an Indian meal. Had to wait an hour, I spent the last 20 minutes in my study watching out the window for it, then the delivery guy phoned me to say he was outside and could we come to the door. So I went outside and he was parked in front of a neighbouring house, and proceeded to have a go at me for not answering my door after he had knocked and rung the bell. I pointed out to him that I was watching out of my front windows and he had done no such thing, was parked at my neighbours house, but he wouldn't have it. And then there were no popadoms!

I can't say I've ever seen that, either that or it / they just doesn't register with me.
The headers tend to be Alexa promo's ( not that I have ever looked at buying and never will) or the latest prime release film or series

And then there were no popadoms!
That's just plain adding insult to injury.

As I mentioned above I have only used Uber eats ( or any other fast food food delivery service) twice in my life,
And both times were the other week.

I'm betting they have had a field days over the last two years , with lock down and people self isolating.
I wonder if poor service was the norm during this time, and people just put up with it, because they had no other option
or they are just getting lax now after a very successful 2 odd years?

£2-£2.50 or even £3 sometimes.
I saw that too, the ones I looked at were generally the higher end here anyway.
And then they want you to give a 10% tip?
I even had a reminder email that I hadn't tipped one driver ( I never "tipped" either of them)
Now where is that unsubscribe button? ah yes there it is...

Never used them, even if I did try they probably wouldn't deliver out to the wilds ... afraid from the swarms of rampant haggis that live round here ... especially tonight :p

One of our local takeaways frequently posts on Face-ache that we should order directly from them and not use just eats. I assume they signed up and now realise just how much just eats are actually now charging them.

The other month we called at a coffee shop and there seemed to be an endless stream of various delivery drivers/riders at the KFC across the road.

There's a very good Chinese restaurant nearby. They can be found on Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo as well as their own online ordering. There are certain menu items you can only get if you order directly from them.

Firstly, why sign up in that case and also, I guess the likes of Just Eat deliver customers to them, so they have to pay something for that?

MIGHT be fake but COULD be real...

I would imagine that what was sold to them, has not proved to be what they got. uber/just eat take between 15 to30% commission that is on top of the delivery charge.

No wonder the stuff I ordered seemed expensive :(

Anyone know of a good, cheap Chinese takeaway in the North/Central Sheffield area? Having tried Chow Mein flavoured Noodles I wouldn't mind trying actual Chow Mein.

More fool them for signing up to it - I only sign up for stuff when I know the cost!
