Sorry to hear about the heart attack. Sounds like they did a rescue PCI.

I worked at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and worked under some of the cardiologists. Do you remember who did your procedure?

The medication is to reduce your likelihood of further heart attacks whilst also reducing the strain on the heart.

Hope you make a good recovery.

Haha! I remember him. Didn't work with him much. Short man and very prone to outbursts of rage aka short man syndrome. But he was very good clinically.

IIRC he also used to challenge the newest junior doctors to a run. I think that was more about him showing off his fitness level than anything else.

Missed all the excitement at the start, but now I'm up to speed with the thread......congrats on still sticking around.
Hope you've no plans to trade in your Canon 7D for the Eternal 1, for a good while yet. :thumbs:

:lol: Not just yet Phil although there might be a few who wish I had :suspect: Thanks though :thumbs: On a similar note, there was one chap on the ward who was a little senile, poor b****r. He had had a big op by the looks of it and I did overhear them talking about the state of his liver also. He also had moments of being coherent as well though, although very few. He would repeatedly call out help quite often. When assistance arrived it was usually for him to ask to be taken to the top floor :D. Kind of funny, but bloody hell that was testing the patience of staff to the limit, but not once did they ignore those calls of help :clap::clap: Whilst I was chatting to one old fellow whilst waiting for the wife to collect me, the other guy was calling out help again, I went over to him to ask if all was ok, once again came the reply " Take me to the top floor " I said listen mate, you are already on the top floor, you don't want to be going any higher just yet if you can help it.

On the subject of caring I bring you this. The boss had arranged a few days ago with my wife to pop up and see me to see how I was, so yesterday evening was the plan. Mid afternoon the phone rang and I picked it up "Hello!" "Hello!" bit of background talking but no answer as such, then it hung up on me. Around 4ish the boss turns up at the door.

Him. Hi Rich alright
Me. Yeh ok I thought you were coming up this evening.
Him. Well I told your wife early evening.
Me. Well I don't call 4pm early evening.

Anyhow we sit down outside and have a little chat with me going over the event and things leading up to it and after it. It really did not take long to confirm my initial thoughts when I heard he wanted to come and see me :D

Him. So what has your doctor said.
Me. What do you mean what has my doctor said (knowing full well what he was thinking)
Him. Has he said when you can return back or if you will be able to?
Me. Nothing to do with a doctor at the moment,I have not long been discharged and I am waiting to hear from the RUH for a rehab programme.
Him. Oh yeh, right right, I understand but it has come as a bit of a shock to us, and your job involves a lot of heavy lifting and driving. I would not want anything happening to you if you came back to work. I have been looking up on the internet about what happens after an attack.
Me. Ah right that`s good then.

Him. So honestly Rich how do you feel about it all, what do you think about coming back.
Me. To be honest, having been out only a few days and still coming to terms with it all and what is ahead of me, I don`t really give a flying F...k! about you or the job at the moment. I have always felt honesty is the best policy ;)

Him. Mmm yeh ok. You know what people are like Rich, I got them coming up to me at the market in the morning asking if there is a job going, you got no worries though I will keep your job open for you, unless you feel at some point it will all be too much and do not want to return (Well he`s going to have a long wait there)

Me. I will tell you what I do find too much.
Him. What`s that Rich?
Me. This conversation, I am feeling really tired now and want to go lie down.
Him. Ok you go lie down, just let us know if anything changes.
Me. Yeh ok bye!

Just about Sums it all up nowadays

Crikey Rich, I reckon you did well to keep patient for so long. Just what you don't need, some selfish idiot carrying out an "interrogation", when what you need is lots of rest and recuperation.

Well Andy I did find myself starting to get a little wound up, but like I said it confirmed what I had already suspected. I shall wait until I have recovered a bit more, I can handle him quite easily.
 
That's a bit crap. You're still in recovery. You can't do 100% until you've been cleared at the follow up appointment. They often do further tests to make sure there's no extra danger or problems and leave you alone. Either way, I'd look at 6 weeks off and if the hospital didn't give you a sick note, it might be worth having a chat with your GP.
 
4pm he came to see you eh? In the firm's time presumably! What an angel.
 
Tw4t, but then you probably already knew that even before yesterday's visit.
I would say though, not all employers are like this – there'll be many who are fully understanding and sympathetic, especially if they know you're not one to milk a situation for all it's worth.
Maybe a more caring employer is what you need, so no time like the present to see if the grass is any greener elsewhere.
 
If I'm correct, he had a rescue PCI which means he doesn't need to drive for one week.

I contacted them last week and have already received a letter from them giving me the OK :thumbs: With all this time on my hands and I borrow her car, I am all set to go Bass Fishing this week :nuts: I was going to correct the spelling of your name, but it does have a certain je ne sais quoi appeal about it :thinking:

Bloody hell Rich, bet you feel like a really valued employee :( :bang:

Have to say my lot were the exact opposite, I had an op and signed off for 12 weeks. specialist said I could go back and carry on, but not to be, I had to have 6 further weeks on light duties, which could have meant being stick inside but I managed to get that changed :D
 
Highly thought of Ingrid :D With all due respect he is not my actual employer, I say my boss as I work with him everyday at the market. He does the buying and decides whci shops get what produce etc. I have just sent a polite email to my main employer highlighting the other guy`s concerns of my well being :D Will wait to see what happens.
