U.V lighting

Hi I'm new to the forum and photography in general really. I keep reptiles and am interested in taking macro and close up shots of them. I use U.V strip lights in some of the tanks, should I be using a flash or would the U.V alone be enough? Didn't know whether to post here or in basics.
