I'm off on a U.S tour in August. Am I best to wait till I arrive in San Francisco to buy a new tripod or get one before I go. Are American prices cheaper?
We've just been to SF/LA/Vegas - I didn't notice the prices were particularly that much cheaper to be honest with the FX rate.
I didn't spend hours walking around the various camera shops though as wasn't looking for anything (only went in 2).
If it was me I'd take all the gear I needed with me from the UK then you're not wasting precious holiday time traipsing round the camera shops and there's no pressure to buy as you've already got it....
Hi, If you visit the Fishermans Warf area when your in San Francisco (and that's something you MUST DO) you'll get anything you want at a very reasonable price virtually any time of day or evening. Enjoy and make sure you try the "Sour Doe Clam Chouder".
East Coast, West Coast or online from the UK, I've never found prices to be significantly lower once taxes (make sure any price you're looking at includes the local sales tax) are taken into account.
