Tyre Extinguishers - Wow these guys are radical

My understanding is that the problem comes from all ships, cruise ships get some attention simply because they are unnecessary and their journeys are frivolous.
While frivolous to an outsider, they're anything but frivolous or unnecessary to the employees of the operators, the employees of the ship builders and the employees of the chandlers who provision and fuel the ships.

As for cars, we obsess about borh fuel consumption and pollution, but modern engines are extremely efficient. My own pathetic little VW Golf uses very little diesel and the pollution figures (OK, they are suspect VAG figures) are incredibly low.
It's due to the number of cars globally.

No, a car is no comparison to an airplane or a cruise ship. But what about per person, per mile?

SUV are being targeted is for their inefficiency. If all cars became SUV and all cars consumed 10% more energy, the increase probably be equivalent to a small nation.

Personally, I don't agree with how they are doing it. But I can understand why they are doing it on areas (inner cities) that clearly don't need such vehicle.

I agree, and I also agree that most of the people who choose to have a large SUV never actually use them for the designed purpose, and are just adding to the problem for no good reason.
I see this all the time, at clay pigeon shooting clubs, with large numbers of very large, very expensive and normally new range rovers etc that are second cars, normally used only to go clay shooting. If I can navigate the tracks in my little shopping trolley, so can they.

And I also agree that many of the drivers simply can't cope with the power and are inadequate drivers.

Until earlier this year, and for about 14 years, I had a very heavy, very capable off-roader that I needed to have. Sometimes I would have to park it in a city, and doing so wouldn't justify vandalism by these idiots.

Perhaps I should suggest to them that as military aircraft cause an enormous level of pollution, they should try letting the tyres down at air force bases:)
