Indulge me for a few minutes.
It will be two years tomorrow since I found Talk Photography and I can't believe where the time has gone. Since my introduction I have learnt a great deal, had some marvellous advice and met some great people from all over the country and spoken to many more on the phone.
From being a relative newcomer to photography the lessons I've learnt on here have allowed me to develop my fledgling hobby into a slowly growing business, my first equine show was on June 11th that year at a small, local showjumping and I have gone from that to press accreditation this coming weekend at Badminton International Horse Trials. I was always adamant that I would not do any weddings as my perception was one of stress and the fear that if I got it wrong there would be no second chance, luckily for me a friend persuaded me to to join him as his second shooter and I found I loved it and was able to treat it as just another shoot. Much of this was due to the lessons I learnt on here from many people and for that I thank you.
Which brings me to Talk Photography. I'm not normally one for gushing (as those who know me will testify
) but out of all the forums I have joined and subsequently left this is the only one that remains in my Favourites folder - sure, I frequent a couple of others but they are either unfriendly, cliquey or full of Americans who overdose on 'paralysis by analysis'.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on here but a special mention has to go to the owners and mods who are responsible for ensuring this forum remains true to it's roots. Just look at the characters we have: Marcel and his 365
, Matty, CT who always has sensible advice based on a proven knowledge, long lens Ian, 'Nails' Glo, the MX meister Dod, RobertP, Moomike, Matt and even DF!
Keep up the good work guys!
