Indulge me for a few minutes. :D

It will be two years tomorrow since I found Talk Photography and I can't believe where the time has gone. Since my introduction I have learnt a great deal, had some marvellous advice and met some great people from all over the country and spoken to many more on the phone.

From being a relative newcomer to photography the lessons I've learnt on here have allowed me to develop my fledgling hobby into a slowly growing business, my first equine show was on June 11th that year at a small, local showjumping and I have gone from that to press accreditation this coming weekend at Badminton International Horse Trials. I was always adamant that I would not do any weddings as my perception was one of stress and the fear that if I got it wrong there would be no second chance, luckily for me a friend persuaded me to to join him as his second shooter and I found I loved it and was able to treat it as just another shoot. Much of this was due to the lessons I learnt on here from many people and for that I thank you.

Which brings me to Talk Photography. I'm not normally one for gushing (as those who know me will testify :D) but out of all the forums I have joined and subsequently left this is the only one that remains in my Favourites folder - sure, I frequent a couple of others but they are either unfriendly, cliquey or full of Americans who overdose on 'paralysis by analysis'.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on here but a special mention has to go to the owners and mods who are responsible for ensuring this forum remains true to it's roots. Just look at the characters we have: Marcel and his 365 , Matty, CT who always has sensible advice based on a proven knowledge, long lens Ian, 'Nails' Glo, the MX meister Dod, RobertP, Moomike, Matt and even DF!

Keep up the good work guys!

Well said :) and Happy TP Birthday in 4 hours time :p

I'm welin' up ...

And no-one is that ugly ... :suspect:

Oh ... ... and well done Colin for developing yourself into a super image-maker and grand contributor to TP no mean feat in either case ... ;) ... it's people like you that help the owners and mods to make this place bearable ... :D ... most of the timer ... :naughty:

:p

Even when you first started it seems you had amazing talent!!!
:)
love your wifes horse btw, he looks gorgeous

:clap::clap::clap:
Well put Colin
and of course THANK YOU for all the help you have given me
over the past year or so.
Its strange though reading your opening post that we both started for pretty much the same reason :D

And I didnt even welcome you! :(

Neither did I :(

I'm just having a laugh at "might get a D200", I think you've maybe gone past that now :D

Well said Colin. I joined TP last year and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Been on my first meet at Whipsnade. Met a lot of nice people there. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

I only hope that I can do as much and make as much progress in two short years :clap:
you are one of the (many) things (or should that be people?) that I like about this place!

And I didnt even welcome you! :(

*ahem* Neither did I.

Welcome to the forums Hacker, good to have you on board. :D
Seriously, thanks for all the posts over the past couple of years.

Happy BD Colin, I'm about 2 weeks older than you here :D But it doesn't show!

Good stuff Colin. As the adage goes, you tend to get out what you put in, and from that I can say I've certainly learnt stuff myself from your threads and tips, so you're doing TP a good service too

Happy Birthday Colin :woot:

TP is one of the best forums I have used, covering a multitude of subjects, the mods do work hard and do a great job...well, apart from that Marcel character, he's definately a dodgy one, I mean , have you seen his self portraits :suspect: :naughty:

Only joking Marcel - thanks to all for the good work!

Oh, and Colin, glad you got over the wedding thing as your shots are pretty damn good, but the idea of doing one still leaves me cold :bonk:

I had to go back and check when my first post was..... yikes!! Doesn't time fly!

Happy anniversary Colin and I am looking forward to seeing some shots from Badminton.

And in two years I cannot recollect a single golf shot.......... perhaps your handle isn't sport related at all!

Oops I forgot to put a nod in the direction of the mods of this forum. You *******s you ruined my life! I used to get stuff done but now all I do is sit here reading this bloody forum!
