As the title, visiting London over half term for a few days.
First time the kids have been to London, so doing the usual sites, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, etc. also taking in a show. Will probably visit the Science museum too and Covent Gardens.

Just looking for other ideas of must see sights, especially if the allow me to get my camer out too.

Want to try my hand at a bit of street photography as well as just capturing the family and the sites....

You won't go far wrong by visiting the usual tourist places Jeff, don't forget the Southbank too along towards the London eye, there is always loads going on along there. London aquarium is quite near the eye too, well worth a visit.

A trip up the Shard is well worth a look. I went up during the day but looking to go again in the evening.

Thanks, we've decided to do the London Eye instead of the Shard....Mistake?

The Eye is definitely worth a go as well. I think with a place like London you're spoilt for choice for things to shoot

I would highly recommend a visit to Leake Street designated graffiti zone.
The skate park near the Eye is also good for street stuff.
Millenium bridge looking towards St. Pauls is always good.
Tower Bridge is further along, as is the Shard, some very photogenic buildings round there.
London is just 1 big photo oppurtunity in my eyes.

What about coming to Greenwich - you could do it on the river?
Cutty Sark, Maritime Museum, Observatory, Planetarium and Greenwich Park with its views....

Definitely not for the kids, the pods have tablets in there with all the info of what they can see. Worth a trip round, look out for 2 4 1 voucher too plenty around for it.

If you're looking to experiment with a little street photography then there are some great neighbourhoods in East London - Brick Lane is a great start.

Have a look at the Emirates cable car across the Thames.

You can't go wrong with Kew Gardens. Nice family day out and lots to shoot. Also, try Leake Street for the graffiti, Richmond Park (20 mins outside london) and see the rutting deer, or if architecture's your bag, you could shoot: Lloyds Building, Natural History Museum, The British Museum.

For street/candid shots try the markets, e.g. Columbia Road Flower Market,

Hi Mate

definitely check out the south bank, plenty to snap and lots going on for the kids, if it rains there are places to take cover too.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

when i was lad ,and cutting my teeth on two and a quarter square photography i shunned the obvious tourist spots ,but one place i would highly recommend at this time of year either early morning or early evening is highgate cemetery ,its full of victorian monuments and if you can get it when its misty (hence the times) it makes for really spooky shots .
another place from memory (40 years ago + ) is to visit the tower of london but go under the bridge north side of the river and find the docks they usually have a few thames barges moored up and there very photogenic ,as long as james bond hasn't blown them up :cuckoo::cuckoo:
