Two Lancs flying together!

Thanks for the heads up Doug, now just have to get the time off work.

thanks!.... we'll keep an eye open for that one!.........:)

A must see sight, I hope they fly North in August!

8 Merlins... That would sound lovely :)

Thankfully I live only about 20 miles from Coningsby and as the kids are off all August on school holidays I'll be there awaiting its arrival on the 8th and be close enough to go back for take off and landings at the base from the 14th onwards. I've got it on my calendar already.

Had a look at the Warbird website at the prices for a flight in it. A 30 minute buzz round the airfield of Lincolnshire at £3500 or £5000 for the same whilst sitting in the cockpit. All I've got to do now is win the lottery jackpot and I'll take the family up at the same time. What an experience that would be.

I sure hope to see both the Lancs and some of the fighters from BBMF together. I might have to look into getting a tent and sleeping bag and go camping at Coningsby for my holiday this year until I get all the shots I want.

Thanks for the heads-up..

AMAZING!

Was lost for words... I had the pleasure of a taxy ride in Just Jane last august which was the best experience ever. The thought of going up blows my mind. So looking forward to seeing these fly together.

Hi

Many thanks for the heads up...............looking forward to the schedule, seeing two in the air together would be amazing & if with the rest of the BBMF so much the better :D

I'm so excited for this. I work in a school so I'll have all of august off and will be able to get to a few shows.
BBMF have released so e of their summer schedule today, but the two Lanc dates haven't been announced yet as they need to be confirmed with the Canadian team.

Time to dust off the long lens. I live seven miles from HAP:)

Wonder if they will show for Farnborough this year ?

We usually have the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly-past at the Bournemouth Air Festival in late August, (free, and by the sea), - so hopefully we will get the added bonus this year. It takes but 15 minutes for me to walk to the site. :-)

Apparently they said on their Facebook page on a post comment that they've been told as it stands the Canadian lanc isn't flying that day
I read that it isn't doing "public flights" that day. I think that might be a reference to the "Once in a Lanc time" events that they'll be doing on Aug 18th, 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th. The Little Gransden show is on the 24th and I think the relevant post on their Facebook page is the one which says "watch this space".

Would love to see the 2 Lancs and the Vulcan do a flypast together at some point while its over, I really need to get some time off booked so I can be at Coningsby when it arrives.

That would be an incredable sight. The Vulcan flew over our house a few years back I just stood there in awe the 2 electicans who were working on the house at the time didn't know what it was!! (and they were only a few years younger then me!)

We were at a series of events at Brodsworth Hall near Doncaster in the summer of 2013 about WWII and stately homes. One of the themes running thorugh the events over several weeks, was a group of actors playing the roles of people in the household in the war.
Anyhow...on the last day, they had just finished the series of events and the guy playing the butler was just out of character and talking about themselves and thanks for watching the show, when he paused and looked up...THE Vulcan was flying overhead...many of us turned around. My daughter said - we saw that plane at Waddington.
The actor said he was lucky, and also unlucky, as he had flown in one. He was at Goose Green in the Falklands...he said how it was an amazing experience, and awesome (in the REAL sense of the word).

WRT to Lancasters, it is such a shame they will miss Waddington...that would be ace! And I don't get the opportunity to go anywhere else, really. :(

I dont think there are actually that many air shows on during August so the main contenders will probably be the likes of Bournemouth, Clacton and Eastbourne where they could fly two or three days.

Fingers crossed for Duxford, be brilliant to see them heading a massive flypast with Sally B too.
So skint at the moment but i'll have to get to see them.

i was worried when i saw the airshows up for august, the big / likely ones are the furthest away for me, so yes, fingers crossed for duxford as that's as far as i can really do in a day as its a 3 and a half hour drive each way

I don't think we'll see it at Duxford as they don't have any shows on in August. Their shows are May, July and September, if I remember rightly.

At least with Duxford you can use the naughty field! Clacton is free though so that's possibly an option for you too.

i was assuming they'd do some shows in September as they are here for a month, starting mid august, so was hoping they'd stretch it to September and make duxford their last one....

We might get lucky then. The Canadian Lanc arrives on the 8th and starts flying shows on the 14th according to the BBMF website so Duxford on 13th/14th could squeeze into the trip.

Rumours are circulating that both Lancasters will be doing a fly-by at RAF Bourn near Cambridge on August 24th when the new memorial is unveiled.
I really hope so as my Nan lives near it and there's a footpath that runs from her estate to the boundary of the airfield.

Damn so it doesnt arrive till after the farnbourough airshow (last weekend in July) :-( at least the BBMF will be there though
