Twin sigma lens kit

Id say as a starter set it looks great value, depending on the body you intend putting with them.

A 28-70mm that goes from 2.8 to 4 isnt at all bad, particularly as part of a kit at that money.

Sigma are a well respected brand too so should be at least "decent" quality.
 
I have these lenses and i found them to be pretty good.

I dont use the 28-70mm very often but the 70-300mm gets heavy use at track days and other events.

For the price they are excellent to learn and get a feel for what u might require in the future

That was going to be my next question, was out looking at cameras today and stumbled upon a brand new Canon 30d with kit lens for £349 ... which I thought was a cracking deal? ...the only thing is the 450d can be had for just a few more ££'s... so told them I would think it over tonight.

Think I am swaying towards the 30d :)
 
Not a lot of money for two lenses from a brand name, but remember there is a fair chance of getting clobbered for VAT and a handling fee when importing them into the UK, in which case you'd be looking at more like £200 for them.

I'd be tempted to have a look around at what is available in the UK, with the way the $/£ rate is it may work out cheaper. Also, you'd have to return the lenses to the seller in the states should they need any repairs etc (quite possible with Sigma) as Sigma UK won't honour the US warranty.

Got any sample pics you could share as I'm into trackdays myself and that would be the main reason for buying this kit.
 
Had a wee look and you're only saving about £15 (assuming no tax/vat on import) and losing the warranty buying from the states against buying in the UK....
 
I would advise not buying a camera outside the UK, warrantee will be invalid and should it need repair you "may" not get it done without sending it back to the country you bought it from.

Different with lenses, I have got most of mine from Hong Kong, get great service, lenses same as UK but at a fraction of the price, only thing is you can,t handle/check them first, but I have not had any problems. I have also got camera equipment insurance just to be on the safe side

No the camera is local to me.
 
Microglobe deal in grey imports I believe, have purchased from them as well with good service but be careful with camera purchase as per my previous posting.

I would stick with one of the well known UK retailers either via shop or web for a camera
