TWICKERS

I'm off to twickers for the first time on Saturday.:woot:

And was thinking of taking my DSLR, does anyone know if you are allowed in with a pro. cameras/lenses??

thanks in advance

Spence

Personally I wouldn't bother. Depending on what seat you've got you may end up looking down on the players as if they were ants in the garden.

Twickenham is pretty massive. There is no rule forbidding SLR's but this is rule #25:

"Except for photography for bona fide private non-commercial uses, the possession or operation of recording or transmission equipment of any kind is prohibited within the Stadium. This includes without limitation photography, filming, audio or other recording or transmission, or the compilation or transmission of data, save with the specific authorisation of the RFU, such authorisation is hereby given in respect of photography for bona fide private non-commercial uses unless and until the RFU notifies otherwise. Private single lens reflex (SLR) cameras will be allowed in the stadium providing they are not equipped with a lens of such a size that it may cause a nuisance to other spectators"

from here:
http://www.rfu.com/TwickenhamStadium/GroundRules.aspx

so there's nothing to stop you taking your camera in, it may just not be worth it.
On the other hand if you don't take it you may want to come round and bash me :)

Unless you're in the first 20 odd rows of the lower tier, then you're going to need a big old lens to get any decent close up shots of the players.

I've taken my G1 in before, but not a full SLR. The seats are pretty tiny and you don't have a lot of room to swing a big telephoto lens around in.

Personally, I say just take a compact, go and enjoy the atmosphere and get shots of the stadium. The stewards don't mind you walking down to the front to take pictures, as long as you're quick, you can't loiter there.
