Yes
I have an ordinary TV and would like to connect it to the internet thro the house broadband.
I would like to watch catch up - iPlayer etc- and you tube - would like to watch photo videos without sitting at a computer or having laptop on the floor with an HDMI cable trailing up the back of the TV
i have no wish to watch netflix, etc.
So quite basic.
I understand that I can buy something like Fire stick, google chrome cast. There are probably others.
Can anyone give me advice on the way to go - cheapest efficient unit is preferred :)

If there is a thread that I have missed please point me in that direction

For a cheap solution, get a nowTV and put plex on it

Or have a look at e B a y item 151734289805

Chromecast, compatible with iPlayer, YouTube, Google Photos and much more, see here

I use it daily and although it requires a phone or tablet to control it I find it fantastic, one less remote hanging around :)

So is that just a plug in to tv and then can watch Internet on it?

Pretty much. It's wifi so need to to be in range of your router. Has all the usual Netflix, BBC, itv, channel 4 catch up services, YouTube, nowtv and 100s of other channels I've never explored (not all free though).

Also had spotify
