TV stations in the U.S. recently began airing a Canon EOS Rebel XSi commercial with a twist: the majority of the 30 second spot was shot with EOS-1D Mark IIIs for a powerful visual effect when the photos - shot simultaneously from different angles by ten different photographers - are sequenced together. With Canon USA's permission, we're hosting the commercial here.

Works well as an advert that's for sure and it's a cool effect but I feel a little cheated as it was their best camera that shot the images that they are suggesting the Rebel took ;)

edit.. seems others said the same :D

What? Canon using a marketing trick to sell their product?

Never !!!

Next you'll be suggesting they come up with some daft idea about heat and white lenses !!!

They are soooooo much better than to try a stupid ploy like that

:lol::lol::lol:

So they used a different camera to get the shots they used in the final sequence? Are you really suprised?

You think they use camcorder footage when selling camcorders, or somehow manipulate the physical properties of your actual TV to exactly replicate that produced by a HDTV set during an advert?

Plus, they probably couldn't find ten professional togs who were willing to use the Rebel after using the 1D III....worried they wouldn't feel clean afterwards :D
