the adverts that really annoy me are that olympus pen advert, its a truely hateful irritatingly pretentious advert for a (IMHO) pointless contraption of a camera, designed for fashionados, the advert is vile as well... could it be any more pretencious with kevin king of pretencious spaceface in it!
oh and the advert that ran about a year ago for the Citroen C5 claiming it to be typically german.... its a french car therefore there it will handle like a pig, its a citroen so will create feelings of seasickness as it understeers off the road (the very same road that thanks to the steering you dont feel at all in contact with...) and every electrical gadget (and because its a citroen there will be many) will stop working at precisely same time as the warranty expires. oh and its been styled by a blind drunk french peasent boy so it;ll induce similar levels of vomit for everyone on the outside as it will for the seasick occupants. very typically german....
i cant understand why a french manufacturer would really take the angle of 'we know french cars are ****, so we'll take the **** out of ourselves in our own adverts in an attempt to tell you its something that its not whilst hawking it to the customers. as an advert they might as well say 'dont buy our cars buy a passat, it'll cost about £1k more but its a much much better car' no wonder you dont see many of them on the roads...
any advert for an insurance comparison website involving an opera singer can get to **** as well, almost as much as the controller who thought it would be acceptable to play that advert at twice the volume of everything else.... his blood is wanted as well.
and my pet hate...
CAR SPOTTER TELLS YOU
tells you what exactly?
i think if we rewrote the advert as 'CARSPOTTER RAKES £3 OFF YOU FOR 2 USELESS MESSAGES'
how can they tell you the cars value from the reg plate, they would need a lot more information than the age, make and model to give you a valuation that is anywhere near accurate, so its completely useless. £3 would be better spent towards a copy of the Parkers price guide which will at least take mileage, condition and who's selling it into consideration when giving you a rough guide price.
infact this is comprehensively backed up by the disclaimer (
http://www.carspotter.co.uk/Disclaimer.html ) on their website so even they know its a crock of crap but i guess if your enough of a moron to use a service like this, your enough of a moron to get stung by buying a lemon or paying over the odds for it.
a lot of these text services are a waste of time, there's one that you can use to check if a car is stolen, HPI clear etc that is as much use as a chocolate fire guard according to the industry!
and the advert is dreadful as well!
