Tutorials for 1D MK IV

I really can't get to grips with shooting video on my 1D MK IV. I must be doing something wrong but, despite reading the manual again and again, I'm just not getting it.

Can anyone point me at a tutorial or a decent book on using it's video capabilities? It seems a shame to not make use of this function.

What specifically are you having trouble with? I'm sure there are several people on here who will be able to point you in the right direction..

Failing that, places like cinema5D and DVinfo are a wealth of information - they have sub forums dedicated to specific cameras as well.

The manual mentions a semi transparent mask that appears and I just don't seem to be able to see it. I'm probably looking for the wrong thing but the pictures in the manual are just too small to work out what it's talking about.

I've probably set something so it doesn't show but for the life of me I don't know what.

Are you talking about the 16:9 aspect ratio mask?

It is just two semi-opaque black bars that appear to the top and bottom of the LCD display. Your display will be entirely filled with the image as you shoot but your camera will only record what is between the bars.

I didn't realise it but that was exactly what I was talking about. I was looking for something like a rectangle surrounding the frame not two little black bars. :bang:
