trying SC in Coreldraw 12

I have this software and finding it difficult doing selective colouring with an old tin hut witha lovely blue sign, does anyone have way to do this in Coreldraw 12 ? if not i'm looking for a cheap Lightroom or Photoshop as it's all i need it for at the moment as i slowly dip my toes.
