I got out my Dynax 5 to give it another outing BUT the back door will not open now so I cannot load any film. I tried pressing the 'OPEN' square button with camera switched ON and then OFF but still will not open .
Any Ideas what I can do please ?

How old are the batteries? I’d try fresh ones just in case. I have a feeling some of them have a lock on opening the film back if they think a film is loaded and that can play silly burgers. Also try opening it with batteries out.

Could it be the foam/rubber light seals have started to perish and are just sticking the door shut?

This was my first auto SLR! It was an 18th birthday present. Was very special even with the boggo 35-70 kit lens after using old manual camera!

The camera has gone now but I still have the lens as a memory and it used to take fine photos when screwed directly onto my Sony A mount cameras.

I loaded my Dynax 40 with the film instead -- the 40 and 5 do not have that dreadful Japanese FOAM around back door or as a 'Mirror Bumper' -- I tried with fresh batteries IN and OUT but door will not open so far.

Ha Ha ! Well -- I've Done It !! Pressed release button hard and at same time put blade of small screwdriver into a small slot and levered and back opened. i have now greased the catch with a minute amount of Vaseline and opened it a couple more times ........ There IS some sealing stuff in the groove after all but not that 'Old Rotten Foam' they used to use. It was not all 'Sticky.
