Hi everyone,

** Mod Edit : Approved **

I have a private tropical house in my garden with exotic wild insects such as moths butterflies mantises etc. for hire. I rear and study these creatures for scientific purposes so the list is constantly changing and usually more species being added frequently.
Last year I had a few groups from photography clubs and also some TP members that attended and you can check with them for any views or recommendations.

Its a 20ft X 10 ft and the tropical house has been built with photography in mind, has a full climate control installed that I can monitor and set up humidity and temperature levels (when needing to do photography I temporarily lower the humidity level and within minutes you get it clear to avoid lenses getting steamed).
I have started taking bookings for this season and I still have a few dates available. I hire the tropical house throughout the week and weekends also. Weekends are fairly popular and not many left but still have a few openings. If you are interested and want to discuss any requirements or want more info please contact me.

I hire the tropical house for individuals or groups. Its a perfect venue also to run photography workshops for macro photography so if any photographers out there are interested to book it to run courses also please drop me a line and I will be very happy to discuss further arrangements.

I am located in Northwest London and my post code is HA4 8AR
Price for hire is negotiable as it depends on your requirements, number of people etc.
Some images below to give you an idea what I have inside the TH.
Please feel free to drop me a line or ask any questions.
I usually update images on my facebook which you can search under Aminart if the link doesn't take you there.

Thanks,
Yes I used to go around spending hours also days in fact in local tropical house, in fact I used to run a photography workshop in one which I will not mention doing voluntary work doing all their publicity shots and photographing marketing materials which they still use to promote themselves, for three long years until they decided to bite me on the backside and taking the p*** pardon the expression, so I decided enough was enough and with the help of some academics that I was involved in the Universities with mutual benefit and agreements that work for both I began erecting my own private butterfly house in the garden. Took many months to do it but its now exactly how I wanted, fully climate controlled I keep exotic wildlife and local in there throughout the winter months also and I get to enjoy photography, run my own tutorials and photography workshops, mainly macro photography and no more driving miles and miles to find places where its often crowded and often so difficult to get that perfect shot.
Besides, I get to wake up in the morning and witness butterflies emerging like these ones from chrysalis today :)

This is a timelapse, but then I decided that as the emerging process takes hardly a couple of minutes video footage would be better compared to the above caterpillars hatching which took about 12 hours

Here is a footage taken of my Leaf Cutter Ants colony with the fungus, and an image I captured of a winged male ant that they produce typically once a year.

Amazing footage thanks for posting:)
Interesting to see the newly emerged catapillars eat the eggshells, I have read that some do but never seen it
Wonderful shot of the male winged ant too

Some fantastic images and work you have done there. You should be really proud of yourself.

Zulu, thanks for the detailed PM, we are currently trying to find some common dates that worl for us, but I think we will have a group of four for the three hour slot. Will get back to you when we have some idea of dates.

No problem Mark, feel free to stay in touch or drop me a line if you need any more info.
And just as a side note I have over 200 pupae hatching in the next few weeks and I will be receiving several stocks constantly throughout the Summer months.
Few images below just to give a glimpse of the joys of working with butterflies :)

Amin, they are truly fantastic images. I'd also be very interested in getting a small group together to spend some time at your Tropical House to photograph some of these lovely creatures. Could you P.M. me details of costs, location, dates etc. so that I can talk my friends?

Thanks,

Cliff

Hi Cliff
I have sent you a message, not sure if it went as a PM but if not then please feel free to PM me as its easier to just click reply. Haven't got to grips with the forum layout and I get confused still. Been away too long I reckon :)

If anyone wants to do this, I have a single space available for an afternoon slot on the 5TH July at 3.00.
You will be sharing with three others for a 3 hour slot.
Please pm me for more details.

I really hope I can capture something nearly that good when we come!

Amazing pics, what gear do you use ?

I have several species of caterpillars at a beautiful stage to be photographed for the next few weeks, and some lovely species of butterflies also

hey Guys, four of us went over to this afternoon.
I cant say enough good things about this if Im honest. Amin, the owner, is not only hugely knowledgeable on his subject, but he also knows his photography stuff to.
Had a fantastic, unhurried time taking images of really beautifull moths and butterflies -with ni issues of the public getting upset about tripods etc.
I have about 40 odd to pp, out of about 140.
But of you love macro, this is the place to practise it.
Unhurried, with expert guidance if required.

Thanks go to Amin, for a very enjyoable and educational few hours...

First pp draft gives up these two...

These are stunning shots Mark, really nice to see my butterflies shine through other photographers perspective. Can't wait to see the rest of the shots when you have finished processing them I will keep an eye on your threads when you put them up somewhere else also.
Would love to see shots from the rest of the group also.
Many thanks and it was nice having you all in my tropical house.

Those are stunning shots of the Paper Kite and the Antheraea polyphemus moth caterpillar you captured, stunning results actually Terry, thanks for sharing them.
Many thanks
Amin

I can only echo Mark and Tezz's kind words.
Personally I had a great afternoon with the group and Armin's knowledge and hospitality only added to this.
Thanks Mark for setting it up, much appreciated.
It was my first go at macro with my new lens only arriving a few days before.
Armin, I'll be back!

I'll upload some photos over the next day once my laptop has finished rebuilding.

Cheers

Trevor

Glad you had a good day Trevor, look forward to seeing the pics.

I can see us going again as well tbh.

Thanks Armin. Once I've sorted my laptop I'll process the focus stacked images and upload them as well.

Cheers

Trevor
Sure Trevor, will look forward to seeing them.
Many thanks
Amin
