If so, your best bet would be the Velbon Ultra Luxi SF which IIRC weighs a tad over 1 kg. Only reaches a max height of 146cm though (including the centre column at its highest)..
In the tripod world it's said you can get cheap or light, but not both. Well, that's not strictly true. You will find plenty of cheap, light tripods complete with head, for under £80, but the sense of satisfaction at getting such a "bargain" will vanish when the first light breeze sends it crashing to the ground complete with your camera.
A wee bit more will get you a set of Manfrotto 190PROXB legs (about 1.9kg) and another £40-50 for a decent head.
The other alternative is to buy a cheapo tripod and cross your fingers
What about the redsnapper tripods, I see they are higly regarded on the forum, an as far as I am aware, members get a 10% discount. This means you get a tripod and head for £90.
