I have a Manfrotto 725B 
It's about £80 or so. It's small(ish), and light, with a ball head and quick release, but it doesn't go really low and isn't as flexible as a 055 for example. Is that the kind of price you're looking at spending? or less?

Does it need to be light weight, compact, strong, flexible (ie moving the legs to lots of angles to get low), ball head, 3way, etc...
But with Manfrotto you have the digi range (upto about £80), then the 190, and after that the 055. 055 is basically a stronger and bigger 190. With the 190/055 you have the addition of the head to take into account (probaby about £40), so it ends up being at least £100.

I have a 190, its great. 
The new manfrotto modo range looks good with it's new joy skick head, not sure about the weight of your kit though, so check the combo you choose is up to the task.
